In recognition of his efforts and contribution towards a clean and safer Akwa Ibom State and the society generally, governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Pastor Umo Eno has been honoured by the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, Nigeria as a champion of Clean Nigeria Campaigns.

The award and recognition was part of events marking the 2022 World Toilet Summit held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, at the weekend.

The 2022 summit tagged, "Sanitation Innovations for Economic Development" according to the organizers, was geared towards bringing to the fore the opportunities in the circular sanitation economy and the enabling environment needed to maximize it.

The award is coming about nine months after Pastor Eno's impactful service in the ministry of Lands and Water Resources.

The well attended event had eminent personalities including: the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbanjo, President/CEO WTS Jack Sim, Ministers, State Governors and many others.

It is on record that while on the saddle, Pastor Eno recorded remarkable achievements including, providing logistical supports for smooth implementation of National Youth Volunteer Programme (NYVP)in the State.

He spearheaded the passage of the Water Resources Sector Management and Regulation Bill by setting up Water Resources Bill Committee and eventual presentation of the Draft Bill to the House of Assembly for Legislation. The Bill was later passed on July 19, 2022 by the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.

The governorship hopeful who is reputed for his innovative ideas and passion for promoting worthy causes also initiated the review and finalization of the state WASH Policy and roadmap to end open defecation in Akwa Ibom State by 2025.

Pastor Eno who was represented at the ceremony by the Acting General Manager, Akwa Ibom State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (AK-RUWATSAN), Engr. Saviour Udo, recalled that Pastor Eno also initiated a form of synergy through proper coordination of the various agencies and stakeholders in the sector for effective service delivery.

Reacting to the award, Pastor Eno appreciated God for the grace to leave a mark in the sector within his short period of service.

He also appreciated Governor Udom Emmanuel for the opportunity to serve the state, as well the the support which made it possible for him to achieve the referenced impacts.

The PDP gubernatorial candidate assured that given another opportunity, he would strive to do more for the sector, and the state in general.
