PATIENCE UMO ENO MOVEMENT ADVOCATES FOR INTENSE VOTERS EDUCATION CAMPAIGN IN UNITS

In every election, voter and civic education are necessary to ensure that all constituents—men and women alike—understand their rights, their political system, the contests they are being asked to decide, and how and where to vote. For the upcoming 2023 election to be successful and democratic, eligible voters must understand their rights and responsibilities, and must be sufficiently knowledgeable and well informed to cast ballots that are legally valid and to participate meaningfully in the voting process.

The Patience Umo Eno Movement is not letting any stone unturned in regards to the education of voters in Akwa Ibom State. The support group has identify voter education as a critical factor to the success of Pastor Umo Eno in the upcoming Akwa Ibom State gubernatorial election on 11th March 2023 due to the electronic voting system of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The group strongly advocates for voter education in all wards and units by making information available and accessible to all constituents. The group acting President, Obongawan Mary Umanaette Udoh stated categorically... " apart from distribution of aprons to market women across the three Senatorial Districts of Akwa Ibom State, our voter education campaign strategy seek to achieve universal coverage of the electorates... To do this effectively requires reaching out to disadvantaged groups as well as mainstream voters in villages because of their ignorance to the BVAS technology being introduced by INEC in the upcoming election"

The wife of the Uyo State House Member, Mrs. Mercy Eka stated at the group meeting that, "...Minority groups, internally displaced persons and other marginalized segments of society should be specially targeted... Also Young adults eligible to vote for the first time may need special messages explaining how to register and cast their vote with the BVAS technology being introduced by INEC".

In a statement by the Chairman of the group, Dr. Elisha Attai, ..."Voter education should also include publicity encouraging people to vote and leadership training in a model like this remains one of the core values of PUEM..Also voter education specifically for women is a critical target of PUEM. The group understands that suffrage is universal and Pastor Umo Eno is a HeForShe champion who is passionate of creating a culture in which women are encouraged to participate and are welcomed into the electoral process"
