In a rare demonstration of love and support, the people of Ukanafun Local government Area trooped out in their thousands to the QIC Central School field, Ikot Akpa Nkuk to receive, and register their support for the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno and other candidates of the party.

The cheerful and energetic supporters adorning attires of in different colours while displaying placards with different inscriptions such as, "Pastor Umo Eno remains our candidate," "Say no to a convict, Fraudster," "Umo Eno has capacity, competence, character and compassion," "We Need a pastor governor, not a cultist, 419," and "Ukanafun is for Umo Eno, PDP."

Speaking at the rally where a one minute silence was observed in honour of immediate past state party Chairman, Chief Udo Ekpenyong, current Chairman and Ukanafun son,Elder Aniekan Akpan declared that Pastor Umo Eno remains the authentic candidate of the PDP and will be elected as governor of the state come March 11.

He noted that party politics is a serious business far greater than social media scam, fraudulent or back door activities; and urged everyone to disregard the rumour making the rounds concerning a certain fraudster getting the flag of the party.

Elder Akpan who has served the state in different capacities including; as state assembly member, Commissioner for Education, local government Chairman and even as a class room teacher, said Ukanafun is a PDP stronghold and the people will vote massively for Pastor Umo Eno and all other candidates of the party.

Also speaking, major stakeholders in the area including the political leader, Obong Eno Akpan, Campaign chapter coordinator, Engr. Ekpenyong Ekpenyong, State House Member, Hon. Charity Ido, Local Government Chairman, Pastor Godwin Inyieng, party Chapter chairman, and others said Ukanafun was one of the first LGAs to align with the vision of Pastor Umo Eno and had adopted him over a year ago.

They noted that Ukanafun is one of the few LGAs where all the leaders were united, assuring that all the votes in the LGA will be delivered to the PDP.

In a brief testimony, one of the beneficiaries of Pastor Umo Eno's mentorship and empowerment programmes, Pastor Ubong Jonah noted that the seasoned businessman is a trusted leader with proven years of integrity and can-do spirit.

He disclosed that after completing his national service year, he worked and had been enjoying his daily bread from Pastor Umo Eno, adding that the mentorship, exposure and experience garnered under Pastor Eno years ago,has enabled him to stand out and record progress in his line of business.

Pastor Jonah urged Ukanafun people and the state at large to vote for Pastor Umo for a better Akwa Ibom.

Addressing the mammoth crowd, Pastor Eno noted that Ukanafun is blessed with natural resources, including the blue river, and others, and promised to develop tourism as well as commercial palm oil production in the area.

He maintained that his economic development blueprint would focus more on rural development through agricultural revolution, building and reactivation of primary health centers, roads, modern schools, markets and others; assuring everyone that Ukanafun would be a great beneficiary of the ARISE Agenda.

The governorship hopeful appreciated the people of Ukanafun for the massive turnout and bold statement, and appealed to them to be firm in their resolve and not only vote for him but also protect their votes.

On his part, Governor Udom Emmanuel who was represented by his wife, Dr (Mrs.) Martha Udom Emmanuel appreciated the people of Ukanafun for coming out enmass to receive the "golden gift" of Akwa Ibom State, stressing that Pastor Eno would do well for the state.

He advised the people of Ukanafun and indeed the state not to fall victim to sweet-talking tricksters, who will promise things they will never deliver.

He added that with his impressive track record, Pastor Eno will definitely further peace and prosperity in the state.
