... PDP has faith in Ikot Abasi - Party Chairman

The Peoples Democratic Party gubernatorial standard bearer in Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, has assured the people of Ikot Abasi Local Government Area that his administration will restore the tourism glory of the area notably the slave history and colonial legacies as well as other tourism concerns.

Speaking at the governorship campaign rally in Ikot Abasi, Thursday January 5, Eno who also promised to extend his agricultural revolution to Ikot Abasi, acknowledged the potentials and resources in the area, reiterating that when elected, his administration will improve on what Governor Udom Emmanuel has achieved.

"We are here to celebrate the new year. This is that year that we have a date with destiny. Let me say it that Ikot Abasi is a special local government area. We will invest in tourism in Ikot Abasi. Every tourism site here will be developed, we are going to renovate and make sure that those sites become functional."

"We will revive agriculture in Ikot Abasi. All the roads that our governor has started here, we will complete them. Every part of our state will be developed. Our rural development policy will touch every part of the state."

"Akwa Ibom needs development and not insecurity. We are promoting peace and not asking people to engage in violent like some people do. Do not permit violent people to come among you because the peace that we are enjoying in this state must be sustained", he said.

On his part, Governor Udom Emmanuel who spoke at the event described Ikot Abasi as "one of the most blessed" areas in the state given the development prospects and projects in the area, while assuring of the completion of on going projects in the area to include the fertilizer amonia plant and the Federal University in partnership with the federal government.

"This is the first campaign for the year and it is a victory year. I am already assured of victory. Ikot Abasi Local Government Area is one of the most blessed. I am very particular about Ikot Abasi because there is so much potentials here. When I came in, Ibom Power Plant was not generating even one megawatt, but today, the story is not the same."

The state chairman of the party, Rt Hon (Elder) Aniekan Akpan, while presenting the candidates of the party, said that the team "came to thank the people of Ikot Abasi especially for the support in 2019."

"We know that Ikot Abasi will do it again in this 2023. We have brought the candidates of our party to show you. PDP is the only organised party here and the party of choice by the people", he said.
