Why The People Voted for Pastor Umo Eno
The landslide victory of Pastor Umo Eno in the March 18, 2023 Governorship Election is a clear statement from the people. They have voted for the man they knew and believe will best serve them.
In the course of our media interface, I've had to engage several people to ask why they voted for Pastor Umo Eno. The answers were very similar and here's a collation of the major considerations:
- They voted for Pastor Umo Eno because he has no political baggage and represents a fresh start. He belongs to no clique, faction or group. They concluded he will be father of all.
- They recognised he is a Man of God with impeccable record in ministry. After more than 25 years in the vineyard of God and leading a successful All Nations Church, there is no doubt he will lead in righteousness and light of God.
- They were convinced he is God fearing, peace loving and absolutely humble. They knew he represented the best bet for continuity and sustaining the peace prevalent in the State.
- They saw in him manifest virtues of respect, service, industry, prudence, competence and capacity. Pastor Umo Eno's character is unblemished.
- They rooted for an accomplished business man and entrepreneur with no trace of corrupt enrichment from public resources. That he knows how to start small and grow big and his story the people can relate with. They trust he will do more as Governor by creating wealth, generating employment and encouraging entrepreneurship and small scale and medium enterprises, SME'S.
- The people are persuaded that given his obvious resourcefulness, success in whatever he touches to do and experiential knowledge in managing his conglomerate, those are clear pointers that he is the best hand to manage the State.
- They assessed Pastor Umo Eno's family life and found he is stable. In business he is prosperous and in the Lords vineyard he has excelled. They marked Pastor Umo Eno as a proven manager of men and resources and can be trusted to deliver at the highest level.
- His temperament, demeanour and personable nature are all positive. The people reasoned that he will not be vindictive and behave like a bull in a china shop.
- They saw in Pastor Umo Eno a genuinely detribalised, compassionate, charismatic and inspirational leader.
- They acknowledged that Pastor Umo Eno is a homeboy and understands the terrain. His campaign messages became a reinforcing proof that he is brilliant, articulate, focused and very strategic.

They scored him very high as having presented the best blueprint for the economic prosperity and development of Akwa Ibom State being the ARISE Agenda. The document entails:
- Agricultural Revolution
- Rural Development
- Infrastructural Maintainance/Advancement
- Security Management
- Educational Advancement
With such detailed workplan, the people had an easy choice to make and Pastor Umo Eno earned their mandate. What is needed is the continued mass support, goodwill and prayers going forward to ensure he succeeds in implementing his vision for the State.
